Tweet for heat
Alwaleed Philantrophies
Our strategy needed to amplify the refugees voices and deliver them to the rest of the world and make them aware of their situation in real-time.
We introduced Tweet for heat as a collaboration between Alwaleed philanthropies and UNHCR, whereby we wanted to shed the light on the refugees’ suffering especially during winter.
We created heat-monitoring devices and fixed them in tents across various camps in Lebanon, Iraq, Greece and Croatia. The devices automatically tweet the personal message from the refugees with the temperature three times a day.
The messages appear at hashtag #TweetforHeat and on the website www.tweetforheat.com where users can see the inspiring impact as demonstrated by the donations along with the temperatures in each of the countries. They can also watch the stories and routines of those refugees in their everyday lives.
